I just rewatched the movie and don't have the text so.…..in the film she says that he was what she thought he was based on the fact that he resigned over what he thought the nun had told her even though she never spoke to another nun. She is upset that he basically got a promotion and Amy Adams adds that the boy in question is heartbroken. Im thinking perhaps the doubt is also in hers3lf. Streep really hits that line about i have my certainty!!! Earlier in the film. Maybe she has doubts because in the end the boy is the one who is suffering the most.
I do remember the play being more ambiguous as to his guilt and yes as so eone said above the boys mother seemed much more sophisticated. |
