Streep really hits that line about i have my certainty!!!
In the original Broadway production, Cherry Jones delivered that line as if it defined her character - which, essentially, it did. And that's what made her final admission about having "doubts" so shattering.
I hated the filmmakers' decision to have Meryl Streep break down and sob after delivering the last line; Cherry Jones and director Doug Hughes didn't take that route in the play; their approach was simple and straightforward, and the impact was - if anything - more devastating. |
