| I imagine there have always been some rude people at the stage door, but I'm afraid the culture of social media (ironically at the center of ''Dear Evan Hansen'') has only multiplied their numbers, especially among an Internet-savvy, younger generation. Whether through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc., I fear too many of them feel a (false) familiarity with their favorite performers. For some, it's not enough to see the show; they want face time with the objects of their obsession, or better yet, a selfie to post on their Twitter, to validate their experience and brag to their friends. I'm guessing Diana McLaughlin is ticked off that she spent big bucks to take her daughters to ''Dear Evan Hansen,'' and because her daughters are probably upset at not seeing Platt at the stage door. Maybe they identify so much with Evan Hansen, and/or have giant crushes on Platt. Who knows? Add greedy autograph sellers to the stage-door mix, and you've got a mob that threatens to get overzealous and scary. |

| It goes to show: if they think so little of him as his efforts as a performer, why do they want a picture with him? And why would he want to be in a picture with them? | |

| I'm assuming they thought less of Platt after he skipped the stage door. I imagine it really soured their opinions of him. On the other hand, McLaughlin holds Josh Groban, Brandon Urie and Platt's own co-stars in high regard, since they DID stage-door. |

| Her daughters are probably glad it's July and mom's internet infamy will be over before they have to go back to school. | |
