| If we're talking about showtunes (and not, for instance, Bill Evans' "Peace Piece" or Elgar's "Nimrod"), I've always assumed there was general agreement that Sondheim's "Sunday" was a sort of homage to "Make Our Garden Grow," with quite a few similar characteristics to the ones described below re: "Make Our Garden Grow." But maybe I'm nuts, since I don't believe it has been brought up in this discussion? Anyway, it's a gorgeous piece of music in its own right. |
