I need help from an expert on The Great Comet!

Can anyone remember a review of the Broadway production that said the off-Broadway incarnations worked better because (i) of the intimacy of the smaller spaces, and/or (ii) the Supper Club concept was more fully realized?

I am trying to find a published review from a periodical (e.g., NY Times) or magazine (e.g., Vogue) that comments on the way the space changes the supper club concept.

For the sake of those contemplating seeing this thing-------
I left finding the whole business incomprehensible---mountains of names and events tumbling in a frenzy of impassioned solos and hyped choreography. I was at a banquette, and my neck was sore from twisting to see the seemingly endless line of folks kicking and screaming . Groban was fine, as was the rest of this frenetic bunch, but I was frankly very happy to get out of there and escape into the New York humidity and grit. Obviously, there are many who feel otherwise, and I am not a newbie(having seen, taught and performed in work for 40 years), but I thought I would issue a warning to those about to invest in an evening. Perhaps it was better and clearer in a more intimate setting. I hope so.

I saw the original production at Ars Nova , and have seen the Broadway production twice - from the front orchestra, and from a banquette just next to the band on stage. The Ars Nova experience was very different - a very small space , you got a little bit of vodka and black bread. And there was almost no dance, and a small cast. There was no rooM! I've liked teh show very much all 3 times I have seen it - and all 3 have been very different experiences ...

I went into the Broadway production as a last minute substitute for Dear Evan Hansen, which didn't have any seats (this was two months before the Tony Awards). Lucked into a good pair in the Orchestra, far enough back to see everything. I didn't expect to like it very much, but I really loved it--the music, the dancing, the pirogies, the acting, the self-knowing issues around complicated plot and several names for each character. Still haven't seen DEH or Come From Away, but between Comet and Groundhog Day (another substitute which I liked a lot--it was Tony weekend and though I was prepared to pay above ticket price for DEH, Mr. Platt was resting voice), I've had two nice surprises.
