The above poster is incorrect. There are regulations for subletting a Rent Stabilized apartment - I just did so myself. You are allowed to sublet, but only for a max of 2 years out of a 4 year period (if you follow the law). Since i knew my landlord wanted me out so he could raise the rent for the next tenant, I let him know i was subleasing, etc.
If you do so, you might be limited to those two years. But the rent control law clearly says you have to notify you're subletting. If you don't you might be risking the apartment... |
