| True in many cases (Russell, Hepburn, Redgrave, Ball), but he also allowed many Broadway performers to recreate their roles on film. John Raitt, Carol Haney, Reta Shaw, Robert Preston, Pert Kelton, The Buffalo Bills, Paul Wallace, Faith Dane, Rex Harrison, Stanley Holloway, William Daniels, Howard da Sylva, Ken Howard, Virginia Vestoff, Beatrice Arthur...that's a whole lot, though they do prove your point.
