I keep thinking Bette's First Wive's Club costar, Goldie Hawn, would be fabulous in this. Different from Bette, but a great take. And she very much fits the bill of the type of star you described.

Hawn would be a great choice if she were interested. Has she ever sung live though? I saw her in her recent film with Amy Schumer and she's still got it. I was shocked to read that it was her first film in many years.
