You loathe a show because you don't want to have dinner with the leading characters? I guess this rules out Macbeth, Oedipus, and Dracula.

Macbeth--thats true even though you aren't supposed to like them. ?BTW like the opera way more than the play.

Oedipus--Believe it or not I've never actually seen it, but that is being corrected in October or November when I will review the Asolo Conservatory Production. I expect that I won't have that problem as he is a greek hero, a man with a fatal flaw

Dracula--Again the audience is not supposed to like him

LOL loved your comment.

Not to mention Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett - especially if they're preparing the meal!

Hey, I wouldn't want to have dinner with Charles Foster Kane either, but I still consider Citizen Kane a terrific movie.

Indeed. That really is the lamest criteria I have come across in many a long year. I have to say, I've never once thought with any play I've ever seen about dining with the leading characters. I guess it takes all sorts.

Also, I think all 4 leads would be interesting dinner companions for at least 1 dinner. But more importantly, I'd want to be at a dinner observing all 4 characters there together with me at dinner.
