| Thoughtful write up. But I have to say I think Come From Away didn't win because it just isn't very good as a musical. And it's odd for someone to try to say why it lost to DEH when that person hasn't seen DEH, which, though not my pick for *best* musical this year, was a much better musical for my money than CFA. And a correction Great Comet didn't lose all of its 12 Tony noms... it won 2, for Lighting and Scenic Design... which, it's worth mentioning, are the only two won by Sunday in the Park with George. And Chicago was nominated for 11 Tonys and actually did lose all of them. So it's not really a relevant gauge. Not that you said it was, but by pointing it out if seemed like you might be. |
