| ...your statement that "Murphy, unlike Midler, is an actress." You may not have cared for Midler's take on Dolly - and preferred Murphy's - but Midler is a very talented actress. See her astounding, heartbreaking performance in The Rose as an example of how effective an actress she can be. Even her concert persona is a character of her own creation. FWIW, I do look forward to seeing what Murphy brings to the role, and I LOVED Midler. |
