MButterfly - CORT Theater question
Posted by: SlopeGirl 06:06 pm EDT 07/09/17

Hiya,

I am planning my Fall theatre calendar and right now there are seats for MButterfly all over the house, I don't remember what the Balcony seating in the CORT is like. Any opinions on Seating for MButterfly? Thank you,

The balcony is HIGH, but if you get something in the first few rows, it doesn't feel too far from the stage. I sat up there for "The Homecoming", and after I got over the initial shock of the altitude (and the steep climb down to the first row), I quite enjoyed the view.

Avoid the balcony!

The original production was a success with a run of almost two years. I can't imagine the same interest this time. I'd suggest you wait.

The balcony is a second balcony, and you will be looking down on the stage. This was okay for me when I was in my teens. Not anymore. Have sat in first few rows of mezzanine (the first balcony) and sight lines are excellent, even from the first 5 or 6 side section seats.

I sat in the front of the balcony for the Cripple of Inishmore with Daniel Radcliffe because of a special advance sale ticket special. Sight lines were excellent and so were the acoustics. It's a bit of a climb up and then a steep walk down to your seat and if you have long legs, ouchie. What I'm saying is that it's doable but unless it's the only option, as it was for me that time, I'd stay away.
