| The German film( about the von Trapps) was bought by 20th Fox and released in American theaters; It followed the Trapps , as narrated in Mrs Trapps, bio, right up until they purchased property in Vermont(The hills reminded the family of Austria).........I saw Sondra Lee, one row ahead of Me, at little Foxes; I couldn't find my copy of her bio(facetiously titled "I've Slept with every body: a memoir")so I ordered a new one . -It's available on Amazon - Lots of behind the scenes on Dolly, Pan, and High Button Shoes. | |

| I read somewhere that there were 2 films. One about Austria and another when they came to America. The films were later edited into 1 film which is the version I found on YouTube. | |

| Baron Von Trapp calls a family meeting. Would the children want to invest Everything they have into a Bank' ,owned by a family friend, that's in rough shape.If the banks stabilizes, many of their friends and neighbors will 'save' their savings...... They invested all in the friends bank...The bank went kaput,leaving the von Trapps in poor shape; To save money, they rented out rooms; The diocese of Salzburg helped them out by sending seminarians to stay; With the seminarians came Fr Franz Wasner as their chaplain; He was very musical, and helped organize the family into a singing group, and he travelled with them to the states. He was not in Sound of Music; I suppose when you're streamling the story for the stage,; all those nuns AND a priest might have been considered too much.' |
