I think Prince has earned the right to have his career canonized, and it's a nice thing for his succesors to do while he's still here to enjoy it.
Of course, but are audiences seeing any of his legendary work in this show? It's tough to create a live visible tribute to all (or most) of the work of a producer/director. To stretch the point, I guess, the songs presented would not be so familiar/beloved/iconic had his work not been so good, but he's not the songwriter. I'm not saying they shouldn't have done this, or that it can't be enjoyed, but I guess it just sounds like an odd duck. |
