I'm old enough to remember when Broadway was part of the fabric of American life. This was eleven minutes in the primest of prime time! The only equivalent today are the live productions, which I hope will continue to improve. (Hint- live theater needs a live audience's reactions).
Diener was so young, so beautiful, and so good! So different from my memories of her in revivals. My mothers adulterous lover was in the revival pit for years, and I spent a lot of time at the theaters. Joan was always lovely towards me, but she was to me an old lady, and I never heard a soprano voice like in that clip! |
