| I saw the original production. It was about a month after it opened and before it became a hit. It was a Sunday night, the theatre was only about 2/3 full. The audience and I loved it. We knew we were seeing Richard Kiley and Joan Diener at the pinnacle of their careers. It was a thrilling evening. I shall never forget it. Clearly the word of mouth was tremendous and turned the show into a smash. |
