I saw the show Friday night, and I also enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I particularly liked Moore's stories about his own life, and there were some surprisingly touching moments scattered among the more elaborate comic bits. I expected it to be an extended political diatribe (which I wouldn't have disliked since I'm aligned with his politics!), but it is certainly a well-crafted performance piece. Director Michael Meyer was probably a huge assist in this regard.
We did not have a special guest Friday night. While I'm disappointed to know that people like Cranston and Maxine Waters have appeared, there did not seem to be a hole in the evening at all, and it still ran the full one hour, fifty minutes as advertised. |
