| It's a really wonderful part, and is one of the least physically taxing or active lead roles in a musical that I can think of. And it also doesn't necessary require someone who is a proven actor... hence the composer and Groban being the two major players of the role. I'm surprised no recording artists or actors looking to break into musicals (like a Jake for example) or especially any other Broadway stars worth trying have been announced as interested or book. At the very least, couldn't Raul Esparza jump in? He needs a boost. Or Danny Burstein is always good and becoming a recognizable name to most theater goers. Or Steve Kazee who won a Tony for Once would be excellent! Brian Stokes Mitchell? Or how about Alan Cumming? Or Leslie Odom Jr? Or Michael Cerveris? Or Patrick Wislon?! Or Zachary Levi?! Or how about Joseph Gordon Levitt? Not ideal casting physically but he can transform/who cares. Or Chris Pine? Jeremy Renner? Eddie Redmayne? Or what about Sting? Or Dave Grohl? |
