I should really resist jumping back into this topic... but I'm pretty sure what they are saying is that this is not a strong example of systemic racism on Broadway at work, and to put it out there to be used as one is unfair. If anything his being cast in this role at all let alone as the first successor to Groban is diversity-focused/progressive casting/producing at work. Beyond that the only part of this that seems fair to call racially influenced is how Oak was treated, which is really something none of us know all the details about, and the assumption that it only happened this way because of his race, and the way white people can treat non-white people without even seeing it, and would not have happened the same way with a white actor with a similar lack of star name and experience.

And I think you're using (knowingly) a totally unfair comparison ... to compare the producers of Great Comet to a plantation owner with slaves is absolutely ridiculous, and I think that kind of lack of perspective in discussing the situation only makes it seem all the more bizarre that this, of all issues the community faces in making commercial theater more diverse, is being seen or used as an example of racism at work.
