I don't know. It may have something to do with the printing vs. when the song was put into the show - and it's indeed unclear to me if perhaps the song was added along the way at some point - and also, as we've been discussing, if there was a true change in the lyric between 3rd and 1st person at some point. (And, of course, the scene with the 2 horses that precedes the song is also missing in the published script.)
Also missing is the first section of the Housekeeper's solo in "I'm Only Thinking Of Him" - music which is also missing on the original album. I also remember that the original print of the published vocal score didn't have that section in it, but it is in the newer score that's standard today. But it's clear, from the measure numbers used in the score, that this was an afterthought. I'd love to know when it was added and what the circumstance was. |
