I don't think either of us intended to head back into this terrain again but here we are :-) And since it's both civil and at least marginally covering new territory, I'll inch it forward a little.
re "punish," I don't think that's the relevant consideration any more than "blame" is. Sometimes protest causes harm to the blameless, even those who are the seeming beneficiaries of the protest.
re "kinda," the eye of the twitterstorm is people who think white people don't have the perspective that permits them to appreciate "the system."
re "racism," you still want to insist that others can't see something because you can't, and that is not how different perspectives operate. You don't have to agree with the conclusion to recognize that someone with a different perspective might see something you don't. Again, I think what Azudi wrote is the most trenchant writing on this subject and we ought to consider it as the takeaway.
