Well I guess because it's not just the producers that "pay the price" it's the cast, the writer and creative team, etc., and the thousands and thousands of audience members who wont get to see the show (with the diverse cast in leads and ensemble roles).
Also, I don't recall the report you're referencing (not implying it isn't there, I just personally don't recall)... did Oak say that it was done only through his agents and not personally told by the director or producers to him?
Because on the other side of the coin, assuming it's possible that's not how it happened, we do know his premiere date was pushed a week, which seems to imply he needed more rehearsal (not an encouraging thing), and we have a report from Reidel (if it can be believed) that he and the director were fighting a lot AND that the producers brought him in on the plan and he was on board to the extent that he was willing to do press with Mandy (even if he wasn't happy about it or was insulted or felt slighted, or maybe he understood the situation)... not sure if any of that is true.
We don't know. There are a lot of little things that we don't know one way or another that would change what people have decided happened and how they feel about it/what it means, either way. |
