I think Hamilton the show has always been the star of Hamilton and the real draw. Yes people wanted to see the original cast, but most people buy tickets would have no idea who they are and if you gave them the replacement cast and said it was the original they'd surely believe you and be thrilled, aside from so many knowing who Lin is because he was the star and writer of it (and of In the Heights), so if there's a face of the show it is very much Lin.

But I don't think it's fair to say that the Hamilton fans are still buying tickets to that show. I think it's more than likely that the Hamilton fans are trying to get a ticket, or have seen it and are having a hard time going again more than one more time if at all, because it's no easier for Ham-fans to get tickets than anyone else. The show is selling so well because EVERYONE (relatively speaking) want to see the *show*, regardless of who is in it. And being a new show people haven't made their minds up about it so when everyone says it's the best thing and a must see, they want to see it too... unlike, say, Hello Dolly which many have made their minds up about as a show so if they aren't drawn by Bette they won't be seeing this production, or Great Comet even which has many fans in ticket buyers and critics but isn't universally loved and isn't for everyone certainly... so it has the benefit of being new and therefor exciting/uncharted, but without the *guarantee* non-theater lovers will think it was money well spent to take the chance.

And as a fan of Ms. Soo, I can say I didn't like her in Amelie. I blame the material and direction much more than her, since I thought she was wonderful in Hamilton and even moreso in Great Comet off-broadway. But I'm not sure if I would go see a show that doesn't appeal to me or worse that I hear is bad (which I heard about Amelie many times before I finally saw it and started saying the same thing) just because she is in it, and I'm sure most feel the same way. There are actors/stars, especially theater stars, I would see in just about anything, but so far she hasn't reached that category for me.
