| It doesn't seem too much of a stretch to guess that the first he heard of the "Mandy asked to be in the show so we're putting him in" story was the announcement. Whatever had happened previously, he suddenly found himself cast as the white guy taking a part from a black guy, with the producers putting out a story he says isn't true. It's likely that the situation wasn't presented to him honestly, or at least only from the producers' perspective. Calls from these producers may never again be taken at face value, but I wouldn't think it's necessarily SOP for an actor or his agent to question the truth or completeness of a producer's or casting director's rundown of a situation. Would "We need someone to take over this role on this date and we want your guy to do it" generally lead immediately to "What happened to the last guy?" |
