| Interesting. I saw the original Broadway cast which, I believe, featured a few members of the London cast(s)? Regardless, I recall the actors playing the father and Siobhan defly balancing the elements you're discussing and this was for the newer proscenium staging. The Ahmanson is bigger than the theatre on Broadway, so I guess performances have to get bigger. I can't imagine what performing at their next leg -- the massive 3,000 seat Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa -- is going to be like. That cavernous house is too big for many musicals, let alone a play. |
