I was also disturbed by the laughter at the anti-Semitic joke that ends "If You Could See Her." Do you think the lack of context in Prince of Broadway contributed to the laughter?

One of my problems with Prince is that there is such minimal discussion of the development of each show. I wish they had told the story of how the early audiences to the original Broadway production of Cabaret reacted to this song, and the discussions that were had about changing the lyric. I seem to remember Joel Grey saying that at one point the lyric was changed from "Jewish" to "Meeskite." Maybe someone here remembers the full story.
