Most of them have been doing the show, with the same roles, for a very long time. Denee Benton isn't one of them and she is the lead so I'm not surprised she is still fresh. Not that I excuse broadway performers getting complacent and sloppy just because they've been doing it awhile (that's part of the job)... but I get it.
And Lucas Steele especially has some tough stuff to sing and his performance has been built around impressive the audience vocally which must get exhausting.
Anyway, I'm sad to hear this report. I'm very glad when I saw it in the tent way back in Dec 2013 (WOW! can that be right?) and on Broadway in March 2017 (jeez!), it was in tip top shape both times. |
