And, unfortunately, teachers. While colleges and universities pay their administration quite handsomely, most teachers get paid somewhere between three and five thousand dolls per class and work on part-time, seasonal contracts. (And I know both sides of the equation: after three years of teaching 2 - 5 courses a year, I've almost earned three-quarters of what I was paid for one year as a fairly low-level administrator.)
I often say that for what my students pay to go to the school where I teach, I feel it's important to give them more teaching than I'm actually paid for, lest they be cheated as much as the rest of us are. |
