| The best advice I ever received regarding graduate school--especially in the arts/humanities--was don't go unless it's paid for. I was lucky to get my MFA from a top program at no cost to me, thanks to funding and teaching opportunities. I realize this isn't everyone's experience, and some people probably can find the value in an expensive MFA or PhD, but it never seemed worth it to me to add another $100,000 to my undergrad debt--especially to enter a field that isn't known for paying particularly well. |
