Well, that's a relief! I am really not all that familiar with her other than occasional glimpses of her on SNL.
The Mother is really the heart of this show and I hope they are able to capture that in this TV presentation. There is one thing from the Broadway production that I hope they don't lose. It is not in the script, other than the stage direction during the song "Just Like That" which reads "She suddenly makes this realization. It's as true for her as it is for her children." But Erin Dilly did something at that moment that really brought the meaning of the song into focus and made it very moving. I don't know if it was an acting choice or if she was directed to do it, but it worked so beautifully. I don't want to give it away, but I hope they don't lose that one moment in the TV show. |
