I did a piece on her for Show Music many years ago.
When the Folllies record was recorded live at Philharmonic Hall. I went to buy tickets when the box office opened. The line was huge and when I got there it was all shows were completely sold out. I called Barbara to let her know and she stunned and couldn't believe it. A few days later she called and invited me to a special performance of this. It was a final recording in which they wanted to make sure they had clean endings with no applause. I remember how hard it was to not applaud and we sat on our hands. We were seated in a special booth, and there were ony 20 of us there. |
