Raising buildings isn't really that big a deal. Actually, a LOT of buildings in a tri-state area have been raised since Hurricane Sandy out of necessity (i.e., the inability to now get flood insurance otherwise).
This may be for naked commercial reasons, but there's really no reason to think it will go wrong in the process. Remember when the Empire Theatre moved down the block?
