I'm going to go wide here, but my favorite Barbara Cook song is "Better With a Band" followed by everything else on that CD. The shear joy she gives as she invites the band into her world, Wally Harper's music and David Zippel's wonderful lyrics, I just adore it. Other great selections from that CD are The Bernstein Melody (no one has sung "A Simple Song" with more love unto God and "Some Other Time" and "I Can Cook Too" are other worldly), and "If Love Were All."
The good part in all this is I don't have to give up any of the wonderful songs she sang for us. |
