Of course, I don't mean the Eurythmics' ''Sweet Dreams'' (Are Made Of This).
I mean John Bucchino's ''Sweet Dreams,'' a beautiful and haunting song that probably appealed to the storyteller in her.
''He left a man in New York City. She broke a home in New Orleans. They made their way to California. Sweet dreams, children, sweet dreams.''
Yes, Cook sang the classics, but she included contemporary gems, like ''Sweet Dreams'' and Amanda McBroom's ''Errol Flynn.''
(Both ''Sweet Dreams'' and ''Errol Flynn'' are on her ''Live in London'' CD, and she's so incredibly poignant and powerful.) |
