| In 2005, Karen Ziemba was announced to play Sally in the Barrington Stage production of Follies, but she dropped out for some reason. Kim Crosby played the role, and she got very good reviews, but I've long wanted to see Ziemba play Sally. She seems very right for it, even if her upper register is not as strong as some (although obviously not all) Sallys of the past. I also think that Crosby is generally terrific so I think they made a good choice for replacement, but I can imagine Ziemba being really devastating in the role. Unfortunately, I also think she's reaching the upper edge agewise for the role so I fear she will never play it. But the roles are often cast nowadays with actors who are some years older than the characters are supposed to be. |
