| Which reminds me of a previous thought - that Bandstand hurt itself by opening so late. I don't know what the review and nomination consequences might have been, but it was an unknown and needed bigger word of mouth. No time to get it before everything was about the Tonys. They must have gotten a boost from the Tonys appearance, but in my small regional sample, no one had heard of the show before the Tonys, and even though they liked the performance a lot, that's all they knew about it and I think the benefit it got fizzled. |
