| It's wrong and unfair to read Bill Murray's tears as some validation of your low opinion of ''Groundhog Day.'' In the New York Times coverage, Murray was pretty clear that he was in tears because he was so touched by the Broadway musical. In his backstage visit, he told one cast member that the show was ''really beautiful. You got me. You really got me.'' From Sopan Deb's N.Y. Times story: In an interview afterward, Mr. Murray said it was the message behind the story brought to life on stage that made him weep: “The idea that … we just have to try again. We just have to try again. It’s such a beautiful, powerful idea.” Just because you hated ''Groundhog'' doesn't give you the right to mischaracterize Murray's genuine feelings or sincerity. Anyway, Murray praised the cast and told them repeatedly that he'd be back, but no one guessed it would be the next evening! |
