Groundhog is completely forgettable. I havent bought too many cds of this season, but i did buy groundhog because of nancys song opening second act. After listening to whole cd, that is only good song and doesnt come close to the quality of quiet in matilda.
Hansen has several great,songs like forever and window. I liked bronx tale but didnt buy cd. I really enjoyed come from away, but didnt buy cd. I liked war paint and did buy cd and do like it a lot more than groundhog day although the weakness of the score (and i love grey gardens score) are more apparent on cd than on stage with lupone and ebersole bridging the gap. I didnt care for bandstand so didn't get cd. I didnt see anastasia or charlie.
After matilda, groundhog is a big disappointment and clearly im not alone with the pitiful grosses every week. |
