It's theatrically smart, but it puts a lot of the film's plot in act two.

I'm intrigued, because "Let It Go" culminates the first third (roughly) of the animated film. It's the song that precipitates (!) the action. I've no doubt the show has been well crafted. But it does front-load the story, and obviously expand on that portion rather than second half of the film. Since they're removing the monster (wise), the trek material is probably truncated. It'll be interesting to see what this does to the tale's overall shape. Elsa's palace is built early enough in the movie to make her Ice-so-lation a driving part of the story. Now, she won't even have her home until just before intermission.
