These short plays were apparently found in a suitcase under Teresa Deevy's bed after she died and, thus, the title of the show.
I very much enjoyed each play, and found them full of charm and romance and good humor. The only problem I had was that each one of them seemed to be the opening scene for a full length play, with not very much resolved by curtain.
And with each one-acter I wanted to see MORE, and felt I had just gotten to know and like the characters when each of these little plays ended.
Still, I love the Mint Theatre and what they do with forgotten plays/playwrights, and I had a very fine time last Sunday afternoon.
PS -- Yes, I can see the Horton Foote comparison to these works. Which is probably why I enjoyed them so much. |
