| I went to the show wanting to like it. I really did. But the fact is, this show plays like a bad high school revue. The men are poorly cast and while I love Jason Robert Brown, his style of arranging was not the right fit overall. Some good, but some sounded really bad. The show felt like "lets do a show and everyone gets a part no matter how wrong you are for the part." Tony Yazbek's understudy was the weakest link in the cast. It was a shame too because his scenes never fully delivered results. I think I expected a more glitzy show. There was talk of a hologram of Mr. Prince which would've been exciting. Also, the Friedman Theater may not have been the right house for the show. It's a chamber show, but I can't quite put my finger on what exactly it was. However, lets not dwell on the negative. I absolutely LOVED the "It's a Bird...It's a Plane..." sequence. It was short, but they don't write shows like that anymore. Karen Ziemba and Emily Skinner were particularly awesome in all that they did in the show. Emily Skinner needs to headline a show and finally win a Tony. I've been a fan of Kaley Ann Voorhees since I saw her in Phantom and, while underused, she is terrific in the handful of moments where she shines. Chuck Cooper is the seasoned performer of the cast. He is miscast in most of his scenes, but you see a broadway performer with 2+ decades of theater work and it shows no matter the material. I'd love to see the show run it's course at MTC, shut down, recast some folks and retool it into a bigger production in a different house. There is unrealized potential on the stage of the Friedman. Was anyone at the Saturday Evening show? I looked for Mr. Prince and Ms. Stroman, but to no avail. Directing personnel are usually present during previews. Anyone else find them? |

| Chuck Cooper is just three years older than Karen Ziemba. They both made their Broadway debuts around the same time (1983-1984). I'd say that they are pretty much equally seasoned. :) | |

| I went Friday night. Tony Yazbek was not on. I've read very positive reports here about his performance. His replacement was extremely adequate but the material cries for more and the whole performance suffered without him. Mr. Prince was in attendance but I didn't see Stroman. For me the whole performance just sputtered along and never took flight. I've never been on a cruise ship but this show is what I imagine a performance on a cruise might be like. Enjoyable there but not on 47th Street. | |

I HAVE been on a cruise ship, and - even not having seen Prince of Broadway - I can assure you the show will be far better than anything you'll get on the high seas. For one thing, the dancers at the Friedman don't have to worry about the stage being in a different place between the time they lift a foot to the time they put that foot back down! |

| I believe that Susan Stroman is currently in London rehearsing the west end company of Young Frankenstein | |
