Ingrid Michaelson was still in the show last week. She's a known commodity outside of Broadway. And I imagine the controversy sold some tickets, as well. Starting this week, they have no name and only the lingering remnants of the publicity-grabbing controversy. I imagine the numbers will take a steep dive.
I'm not as wild about the show as many here, but it certainly doesn't deserve to be closing so soon. But the show has been a triumph of bad producing from the start. And one of the worst decisions was selling it almost exclusively as a star vehicle rather than an interesting, boundary-pushing ensemble piece. |
