Seeing as how the presence of Ingrid Michaelson in the cast in a supporting role was apparently enough to keep the grosses way up, I wonder if the producers considered going after another name for her role or one of the other supporting roles -- rather than the role of Pierre -- after the whole Oak/Patinkin debacle went down? Perhaps there simply wasn't time to line up anyone with a sufficient name for any part in the show.
On a related note, a role that would have seemed ripe for star replacement casting would be Anatole IF the vocal demands of that part weren't so extraordinarily difficult, but since they are, I don't think that was ever an option. I imagine there are VERY few stars who could do what Lucas Steele has been doing so incredibly well. |
