First day Frozen sales disappointing

Early Broadway sales were not great. Lots and lots of seats still available.

Expect a big push by Disney.

I didn't love the movie, the score was ok, I find the big hit song to have a lot of problems dramatically, not to mention the disappointing way it ends as far as powerhouse solos go... and until the reviews come out, there's little chance I'll be buying a ticket let alone in advance and for regular prices.

I have children and we are sick to death of Frozen. If this had opened four years ago (impossible, I know), we would have been all over this, but now it has very little appeal. The kids are over it.

First few months are pretty well sold, especially through spring break. Also, don't forget it's the middle of August, a lot of people are probably on vacation and they didn't even announce general sale until 2-3 before it went on sale. Groups didn't go on sale until yesterday. It'll ramp up very quickly in the next couple of weeks, but I do expect a bigger push than usual to get on people's radar as people come back to school and group sales pick up.

I rather like their Instagram sponsored story ad. Cool animation.

Disney's track record isn't as pristine as freshly fallen flakes, I'm afraid. TARZAN and MERMAID were clunkers. And although MARY POPPINS was undeniably a hit, I really just couldn't get into it.

Call me crazy, but I think people are going to want to find out how the hell they're going to give Elsa the power to make ice, snow, a castle, a snowman, and a sexy sparkly blue dress with her bare hands live on stage. If the illusions and effects are crystal sparkle magical, people will buy tickets.

If those effects are a dud, people will save their dough and watch the film for the umpteenth time.

Re the sparkly blue dress, just call on William Ivey Long. He worked magic in CINDERELLA.

Having seen the 1-hour live musical version of Frozen at Disneyland, they have no problem creating magic on stage.

You thought a show that has had no performances, so no public reaction, would sell out almost six months in one day. Really? nmi

Don't you think the title creates a public reaction?

Not that I think it would sell out, necessarily, but many people will go for this (with their whole family) for the title alone.

I think families are getting priced out by the outrageous cost of tickets. And Springsteen's ticket prices will only make things worse for the rest of Broadway. Who can afford to take a family to a musical anymore at full price???

Aren't families still supporting Disney musicals? Some people have money and are happy to spend it on what their kids want. If there will be enough, I guess we'll see.
