| "Is pursuing", "advanced talks", "actively searching for a director" = nothing has been signed. I'll believe this is happening when I'm sitting in a cinema watching it. Having said that, while it's far from my favourite show, Close gave a truly brilliant performance last year at the Coliseum. I would certainly buy a ticket. |

| It's like the Barbra Streisand's Gypsy. Every few years the project gets resurrected (in the press/media) and then becomes dormant again. The truth is, that like with Streisand in Gypsy, the ship has sailed. While I am sure it could have been a great performance, she is too old for this part now. If this ever gets made, it will be received as a bizarre vanity project and I bet it will lose a lot of money. If you want to do Sunset today, you need to find a movie star that is still relevant - someone in her 50s that can sing and act the hell out of this part. At this point, there are other actress over 50 who can sing well and will be better suited... maybe Cate Blanchett (who will be 50 by the time this gets made) or Michelle Pfeiffer. And, if going for someone older, there's always Meryl Strip. People can say that they're tired of her already but she will make an amazing Norma. |

| I have major doubts as to whether this will ever happen as a film at all, but if it does happen with Close, as per royscho's point, I don't see show she could get away with it without MAJOR rewriting. The story as written simply does not work if the woman playing Norma looks anywhere significantly older than 50. | |

| Close just did it on Broadway. Plus a lot of kids grew up with her Cruella in "101 Dalmatians". The story is about someone coming back, an aging actress -- well, Close would love to come back for one of those Oscars that was denied her. | |

| Time is up for Close. She barely croaked through her last performances. She does not have the vocal ability or range to sing the role. And it is a musical. Not going to happen with her.... |

| Well, regardless of her stamina doing the show 8x a week (I'll admit she didn't sound great when I saw it), I'd bet she could easily sing the role well over the course of multiple days/ weeks in a studio to record the soundtrack. And post-production would definitely work in her benefit. | |

| Such a movie would be a terrible mistake. Most of the songs are stage waits, i.e. they do not move the action forward; they repeat an idea over and over. Cut the songs, and you'd have a fine movie. Maybe Billy Wilder could...oh, er...that WAS a fine movie! The minute they put the material in front of the cameras, close ups - Glenn Close-ups! - will convey the story "With One Look' literally, and the songs will draaaaaaaaggggggg. My bet? Will only happen by a collective act of lunacy by Hollywood producers. So it might. |
