Such a movie would be a terrible mistake. Most of the songs are stage waits, i.e. they do not move the action forward; they repeat an idea over and over. Cut the songs, and you'd have a fine movie. Maybe Billy Wilder could...oh, er...that WAS a fine movie!
The minute they put the material in front of the cameras, close ups - Glenn Close-ups! - will convey the story "With One Look' literally, and the songs will draaaaaaaaggggggg.
My bet? Will only happen by a collective act of lunacy by Hollywood producers. So it might. |
