You may want to check Ticketmaster a few times during the day before the performance you want to attend. They start releasing any unsold seats (usually premium) the day before - sometimes two days before.
I scored a pair of 7th row center seats around 6pm this evening for tomorrow's 8pm. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the timing, but it can occasionally pay off compared to the markups on StubHub and SeatGeek.
