Vicki Frederick successfully took over the role of Cassie in the original Broadway company, but Bennett was impressed with Pamela Sousa on
the road. He wanted Sousa and Frederick to alternate on Broadway, but the latter was insulted and left to do DANCIN'.

Another odd Bennett idea: Bennett was so taken with Lynne Taylor-Corbett's Cassie that he'd fly her into cities where the national company
was playing. She'd do the opening night, the critics would review her performance in the papers, then the regular actress would take over the
rest of the run. Taylor-Corbett became known as "the floating Cassie", but this must have been deeply hurtful to the regular artist.
