"The Leading Men" concert, a soldout benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, was held May 30 at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater in New York City. It featured male stars from Broadway and cabaret: Tom Andersen, Scott Coulter, Tom D'Angora, Tim Di Pasqua, Brian and Ted Farley, Barrett Foa, Cheyenne Jackson, Chad Kimball, Matthew Morrison, Jai Rodriguez, Christopher Sieber and Max von Essen, plus celebrity photographer Ben Strothmann. It was conceived and produced by Wayman Wong, who writes "The Leading Men" column for Playbill.com. Alan Muraoka was the director, Jamie Harris was the choreographer, and Seth Rudetsky was the musical director. John Tartaglia was the host, and he was joined by the Johnettes: Jennifer Barnhart, Kelley McKinnon, Telly Leung and Lucas Steele. Wong says this first-ever concert was such a hit that Broadway Cares might turn it into an annual event. |
