| Broadway and cabaret stars headlined the "Queer Songbook" concert, which celebrated the works of out composers and lyricists, on Oct. 4 at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, 209 W. 13th
St., NYC. The show included sneak peeks at songs from new musicals by Andrew Lippa (A Little Princess), Douglas J. Cohen (The Opposite of Sex), Barry Kleinbort (Was) and Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx (Kermit, Prince of Denmark). It also featured classics by Cole Porter
and Peter Allen, and contemporary tunes by Scott Alan, Tim Acito, John Bucchino and many more.
The lineup included Tom Andersen, Michael Arden, Shoshana Bean, Lisa Brescia, Adam Fleming, John Hill, Cheyenne Jackson, Alix Korey, Melba Moore, Billy Porter and Rachel York. Seth Rudetsky hosted the evening, and Michael Lavine was the producer and musical director. Proceeds from the concert benefitted the Center's "Queer Songbook" series, which kicked off earlier this year with John Bucchino. The next "Songbook" concert will feature Andersen, a 5-time MAC Award winner, on Thursday, Oct., 21, at 7 p.m. at the Center. Tickets are $15-$20. (212) 620-7310.
